Back in Buffalo over Labor Day weekend

The Buffalo Waterfront Management Group (Be Our Guest Ltd.) announces the return of “Architects of Air” this year, with the Daedalum exhibit, in partnership with the Ralph C. Wilson Explore and More Children’s Museum. The Daedalum luminaria will be located at Canalside from September 1-5.

A press release said: “Since 1992, ‘Architects of Air’ luminaires, inspired by the beauty of natural geometry and sacred architecture, have enchanted millions of visitors around the world.

“Daedalum takes its name from Daedalus. In Greek mythology, Daedalus was the father of Icarus and the architect of the labyrinth of King Minos of Crete.

“The central element of Daedalum is a maze of 19 egg-shaped domes whose spatial arrangement creates mysterious lines of sight. Passing through the maze, one can discover an incredibly intricate rainbow tree and a cavernous dome whose high ceiling is inspired by the Pantheon in Rome.

Daedalum is designed by Alan and Meko Parkinson with music by David Bickley. To learn more about Architects of Air fixtures, visit www.architectes-de-l’air.com.

“We look forward to capping off an exciting summer at the Buffalo Waterfront with the ‘Architects of Air’ fixtures,” said Lauren Moloney Ford, General Manager of the Buffalo Waterfront. “From laser light shows to concerts, craft markets and roller skating, we aim to provide a variety of waterside activities for everyone to enjoy. The Daedalum luminaria will be impressive and a truly one-of-a-kind experience.
